Alongside our staff is a group of amazing students who help create Amaranth’s annual journal issue. The students apart of Amaranth are in charge of coming up with themes for the open-mice nights, read and vote on student submissions, and advertise for journal events. Throughout the continual rotation of students and staff the one constant is a desire to give AACC students an outlet to express their creativity and talents. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the journals, it is an honor to showcase your work.

Freya Lakis (she/her)
Freya is a Creative Writing major at AACC. She joined Amaranth after attending the April 2025 Coffeehouse event, wanting to be a part of what they cultivated. She likes reading works that are rooted deep in the author’s emotions, or something the author feel strongly about.
Max Armontrout (they/them)
Max is taking classes at AACC for personal enrichment. They joined Amaranth to get involved with student art and creations! They love community publications (zines and journals) and appreciate the environment that uplifts individual creatives that offers opportunity to discuss/engage with their work alongside other passionate artists. Their main medium is drawing, but they’re putting more effort into developing their voice and expression as an author through classes at AACC.
Ford Hoffmann (he/him)
Ford is an English major at AACC. He loves creative writing and art in general which motivated him to join Amaranth and put the journal together. He enjoys reading and writing science fiction and stories with detailed worldbuilding.
Nicola (they/them)
Nicola is a Philosophy major at AACC. They joined Amaranth to engage more with the community of artists at the college. They’ve been reading fantasy their whole life but enjoy anything as long as it catches their interest.
Carl (any/all)
Carl is a psychology major at AACC. They joined Amaranth because they adore writing and creativity and wanted to be apart of it. They adore reading fan fiction.
Joanna/Jay (he/she/they)
Joanna is a law and jurisprudence major at AACC. He first joined Amaranth because he wanted to have something to do with friends and became glad, he joined. She likes reading and writing fanfiction due to its unique beauty, also indulging in Manga, novels and realistic fiction that reflect on the social aspects of life from different perspectives.
Thomas (he/him/his)
Thomas is a Computer Information Systems graduate. He wanted to branch out and try to make a name for himself in a meaningful way. His favorite artform is video games and movies.
Charlie (she/her)
Charlie is a plant science major at AACC. She joined Amaranth because it seemed fun and inviting. She enjoys reading poetry, fantasy, and horror.
Zander (he/him/they)
Zander is an elementary school education major at AACC. He joined Amaranth because he loves all form of the arts and wanted to find a community with similar values. Their favorite book is 1984 and their favorite band is the Dead Kennedys.
